TALK LIPOEDEMA GOES DOWN UNDER

Isobel MacEwan, Chair, Talk Lipoedema shares her trip to join Australian campaigners....

Talking of holidays, my trip down under to Australia was wonderful on so many levels andI can honestly say that I came home with optimism and hope that at last Lipoedema is being taken seriously across the world; I hope within my lifetime we will see great strides to finding positive treatments and cures for it. I also made wonderful new friends in Nola Young, Carla Daly, Elizabeth Airley, with whom I helped to man the LASS information stand in Darwin at The International Lymphoedema Framework Conference.  I then went onto Melbourne and presented at the LASS patient conference and met women with Lipoedema from all over Australia and New Zealand. It amazed me how far some of these women had travelled for a conference on Lipoedema. One lady (82 years old ) had not left her home town since she was married 50 plus years prior. But she made the trip to Melbourne and was absolutely delighted to meet other women who had the same shape and problems as her. She was now no longer alone. It was heart-warming.
